Save iPhone 3GS, 3rd Gen iPod touch or iPad SHSH Using Windows

When Apple releases a new firmware they don’t like people using older firmware. Sometimes jailbreaking new firmware takes a while and if you ever need to restore to your older firmware it won’t work unless you have your SHSH info. This only applies to the iPhone 3GS, 3rd Gen iPod touch and iPad because they all have a ECID in them which stands for “Exclusive Chip ID”. So, to restore to an older firmware you need the SHSH info for that info and for your device. To backup this info from your device there is a sweet little program called AutoSHSH. This is a Windows only program.

Once downloaded just follow these easy steps:
1. Open iTunes
2. Connect your device to the computer via USB

Live From the Apple Store: iPad 3G Day

I just arrived at the Apple Store in Rancho Cucamonga, CA to check out all the iPad festivities. There are roughly 30 people in line right now, but it's steadily growing. A decent turnout, but nothing like any of the iPhone releases I've been to here.

The Apple sales people have come out a couple times offering waters and umbrellas to everyone in line. One also informed everyone that they are only accepting credit or debit cards for payment.

iTunes: May not display all options at low screen resolutions

When opening iTunes 8.0.2 or later, some customers may notice a message stating "For best results with iTunes, use a screen resolution of at least 1024x768" as show below. iPad 3G Released Today

Today Apple releases the iPad 3G. The difference between the iPad and the iPad 3G are the 3G version has a cell phone chip in it and can connect to cell networks for internet. The iPad 3G also has GPS. In the US the carrier compatible with the iPad 3G is AT&T. Their pricing plans for data are $14.99 for 250MB usable for 30 days, or $29.99 for unlimited data usable for 30 days. These plans also include the free use of AT&T’s 20,000 Wifi hotspots. iPad 3G Hits Mailboxes and Retail Stores

If you pre-ordered an iPad 3G, check your e-mail; you should have received a shipping notice from Apple informing you that your device is already on its way.

I received my shipping notification yesterday afternoon and a follow-up e-mail from Apple this morning that says, in part:

Thank you for your recent purchase of the magical and revolutionary
Apple iPad.

We would like to advise you that your order is due to deliver on
time. You will receive a separate shipment confirmation email
today with tracking information for your order.

We’ve seen reports that a few people have already received their 3G iPads. Apple also informed subscribers of its marketing e-mails that units are now available at Apple Retail Stores or for purchase online.

As for data plans for the 3G iPad, Apple has a special page with instructions and information and AT&T has a PDF file that also explains how the data plans work. The two data options are either $14.99 a month for 250 MB of data or $29.99 per month for unlimited data. Users also get access to all of AT&T’s Wi-Fi Hot Spots.

iPad Wi-Fi + 3G Drops Today

We probably don't need to remind everyone, but today is the release date for the iPad Wi-Fi + 3G model here in the US. Pre-orders for the 3G model were reported to be lower than the pre-orders for the Wi-Fi only model, but that may not be a good indication of demand at the physical stores.�I'll be headed down to my local Apple Store to see what kind of crowd shows up, and while I'm there,�try to snag a pair of iPad 3Gs. I'll be posting updates live from the Apple Store later today.
