Jon Stewart Weighs in on the Lost iPhone Investigation [VIDEO]

It’s official: Jon Stewart has joined the debate over the lost iPhone prototype investigation.

First an Apple engineer lost the next-generation iPhone prototype at a bar. Then gadget blog Gizmodo bought the device and revealed it to the world. Soon even David Letterman was making jokes about the lost iPhone.

The matter became very serious though when police raided a Gizmodo editor’s home, something that Gawker Media (Gizmodo’s parent company) argues was illegal due to the California shield law that protects journalists and their sources.

Apparently the police raid, requested by Apple through outside counsel, was too much for Stewart. He somehow fits app jokes, a heart-to-heart with Steve Jobs, a couple digs against Apple’s big brother behavior, and even a request for the new iPhone within the eight minute, forty second segment.

While I’ll let you discover the glory of the clip on your own, I do want to share my favorite quote from the video:

“It wasn’t supposed to be this way. Microsoft was supposed to be the evil one, but now you guys are busting down doors in Palo Alto while Commandant Gates is ridding the world of mosquitoes.”

Here’s the clip:
